The few features that are a must to be looked at in the digital cameras are; Megapixel rating– It is easy to be carried away by the promotions and advertisements that appear on various networks and newspapers about the pixels of the cameras. It is true that the larger the capacity of megapixels present in a camera, the quality of the picture is better. Each image is made up of a number of small dots which are called as pixels, which are put together to give an image. When there are more pixels or dots in a picture, it will appear clearers and finer, due to which it is always better to go for those cameras with a higher megapixel. The next time someone says that the pixels are to be taken into account when buying a digital camera, he or she is to be believed. But along with that, the other features are also to be considered. Optical zoom – Since, the zoom feature allows the pictures to appear closer and the camera will focus on a narrower area, it is a matter to be considered, when buying the digital cameras. Optical zoom, allows the images to be brought closer through the gadget and this is a better feature. The effect is similar to getting a photograph from a closer distance than from the distance. A 2x zoom can bring the object twice as close as looked in the naked eye. Digital zoom – This kind of zoom gives the impression of getting closer to the object, without actually causing any changes, due to which the digital zoom will only increase the size of each dot in the image and thereby is not of much benefit when going for digital cameras. Of the two kinds of zoom that are being furnished in the cameras, the optical zoom is better. In order to come up with the best bargain for a given price, it is always better to look at these above mentioned, two very basic features in a camera. The zoom and pixels will affect the images that are shot with the cameras and therefore, these are to be intricately observed when people go to buy the digital cameras. To bias the customers, the sales people try to present rosy pictures of the cameras, which can misguide the common man, if he is not aware about these two particular features. The rest of the things are more sophisticated, which can be learnt later on. But, the two important things mentioned here are the basic things that go in the performance of the cameras.
