Greater the number of lines in a video, the better is the resolution and hence a sharper image. Furthermore, there are high definitions available in 1080p, 1080i and 720p. This again should be understood to further compare the quality of pictures. The p and i against the digits stand for progressive scan and interlaced, which are responsible for the picture quality. • Interlaced pictures give a lower quality resolution in comparison to the high definition progressive scan video. This is about reading the lines one after the other, so that the 1080p picture quality is far better than 1080i even though, both of them have the same number of lines. Hence, progressive scan video recording and reading is an advantage which is seen with the high definition camcorders. For faster moving images, the progressive scan is a better option as these pictures appear clearer in the screen when recording is done through the p high definition. • Another promotional method utilised in the high definition market is that of the full HD. This means that the resolution that is recorded by the camcorders is in the range of 1920x1080, which gives a sharper video. For the camcorder enthusiasts, there is a newer format of video recording in high definition and it is known as AVCHD which is a format for recording high definition video. This is being utilised by the top models of brands such as Sony, Panasonic and others. The video in such camcorders is recorded in the hard drives or flash memory cards. There are many more types of video recording formats for the consumers, which is another point to be noted when buying the camcorders. This is cleared when people compare the various models and their recording formats. Starting from pocket models to the highly professional camcorders are also available for people to choose from. These are used for high definition recording and with an idea about the different models, and the recording resolution, people can finally own a camcorder, which gives them value for money. When comparisons are done after having an idea of the high definition, the consumers are able to reach a final decision. High definition is definitely an advantage for people who are keen on recording various moments. If they are to record something, then it is always better to have it in a high definition camcorder. But, along with better facilities, the prices also take a leap. They are obviously highly priced than the standard definition camcorders. But, in present scenario, the high definition gadgets are making a mark in the market and standard definition is getting obsolete. Even, the camcorder manufacturers are either reducing or completely stopping the production of these items. This means that the consumers will have to get the high definition cameras in the recent future. Also, the video players and television sets are becoming HD compliant, which suggests that it is better to invest in the HD camcorders and reap the benefits for a long time to come.
